We wish to thank everyone who has inquired about our safety in Austin during this unprecedented crisis due to a string of senseless bombings.

While all of us at Heimsath Architects are relieved that the bombings appear to be over with the death of the prime suspect, we are saddened to think of the victims. As with all of Austin, we offer our deepest sympathies to the families impacted. Two beautiful lives were cut short and a number of neighbors continue to recover from serious injuries.

We also extend our appreciation to Austin’s first responders, police, fire, and EMS. These brave individuals made us all feel reassured knowing that caring and capable professionals were doing their best to protect everyone. We also extend our gratitude to the hundreds of experts from many outside agencies who provided their skills in helping to end Austin’s crisis.

As terrifying as it is to consider the destruction caused by these types of violent events, we believe the antidote is found in the work we do joining people together to build something wonderful and new. Though there may be many who use this event to point fingers and call for more separation and suspicion, we are convinced that the most effective response will be to make more connections and stronger, more inclusive communities.
