The concept of creating a unified church campus required street closures. The master plan for the First United Methodist Church of Temple considered alternates in case the request to close the streets was denied. With cooperation and persistence, however, the congregation was able to take back enough roadway to consolidate the entire three-block campus.
Major new construction in Phase One created a multi-use hall with flexible space for Praise and Worship services, congregation dinners, and receptions. The large kitchen is sized for catering as well as the frequent congregation pot-luck dinners. The new building connects to an expanded youth activities wing, with new and renovated classrooms.
