LITURGICAL ARTS / SACRED LANDSCAPES
What makes something or someplace sacred? There are no simple prescriptions or easy recipes. When human hands craft objects or shape outdoor spaces associated with worship, something transformational can occur. To be successful, a deep appreciation for the rituals and traditions of each faith and a willingness to let go of preconceived limitations is often required.
With decades of creative engagements, Heimsath Architects has developed a unique portfolio of Liturgical Arts and Sacred Landscapes associated with a diversity of worship traditions. We work directly with each group to design and fabricate liturgical furnishings, stained glass, or liturgical art pieces. Or we act as commissioning agents working with artists, artisans, or landscape architects.
“The beauty of our new terraced courtyard has provided another sacred space on our church campus, allowing us to safely gather for outdoor worship on Sunday mornings. Thanks to the vision of Heimsath Architects in collaboration with the Shepherd of the Hills Building Task Force, an outdoor environment of peace and solitude has been created. We are grateful.”Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church
