This is a new installation at Airport Blvd in Austin. There's not a marker or name to indicate the reason for this marker. My best guess is this commemorates the person who was killed at a bar nearby several weeks ago. The event was reported on the nightly news as a detail of the main story. Neighbors were trying to get the bar closed, and it appears the shooting was the last straw.
There's nothing at all remarkable about this particular place. There's a jumble of asphalt, ramshackle buildings, traffic signs and a very busy street. The bright colors and cross are typical of these suddenly sacred places. The small wooded cross is barely visible behind, but it gives a personal touch.
