Airport_and_MLK.jpgIn preparation for St. Patrick’s Day, our local memorial has been decorated green. I’ve blogged before about the roadside memorial for Erica Vasquez and Elias Sanchez. I met Erica’s mother and have a short video as she discusses how important it is to keep working on the shrine for her daughter and nephew.

A closer inspection shows a number of small memorials to both the children. These change from time to time and are updated for the current season.  Celtic crosses top the fixed white crosses and the green hats stand by their side.  These create a somber image using symbols that many associate with a day of frivolous celebration.
